About Celebration of Service

Pledge

The Home Depot Foundation is committed to ensuring that every veteran has a safe place to call home — not just through financial donations, but also through the dedication and hands-on service of our store associates.

During the 2nd annual Celebration of Service campaign that runs from Sept. 11 to Veterans Day, The Home Depot associates will complete service projects to transform the homes and lives of veterans across the country. During these two months, our associates will complete more than 300 service projects to benefit veterans and their families.

Celebration of Service is an extension of our larger commitment to improving the homes and lives of deserving families through volunteerism. From landscaping at VA hospitals to retrofitting homes for wheelchair-bound veterans, our Team Depot volunteers complete around 1,000 community projects each year, nearly half of which specifically serve the needs of veterans.

Our Commitment

Our Commitment image

In 2011, The Home Depot Foundation committed $30 million over three years to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the homes of economically disadvantaged veterans — a pledge that was surpassed nearly a year ahead of schedule. This year, the Foundation is committing an additional $50 million over the next three years in an effort to ensure every veteran has a safe place to call home.

Beginning August 3, 2012 through October 12, 2012, The Home Depot Foundation is encouraging veterans’ nonprofits to get involved with Celebration of Service through our Community Impact Grants Program. During this time, we will only accept grant proposals that specifically identify service projects that benefit veterans.
