NATIONAL PARTNERS AND PROGRAMS

The Home Depot Foundation has entered into partnerships with national nonprofit
organizations whose missions align with the Foundation's interests in supporting the
production and preservation of affordable, efficient and healthy housing that lead to the
development of healthier communities.

Our Framing Hope product donation program is an integral part of how The Home Depot makes a difference in our communities and environment. Products donated through the program are kept out of landfills and used to rebuild nearby neighborhoods and improve the lives of fellow citizens.

We partner with Gifts In Kind International (GIKI) to connect each U.S. store with at least one local nonprofit organization to pick up donations. The charities then put these products to use improving the lives of our youth, the sick and the needy. Since the program’s beginning in early 2008, more than 1000 Home Depot stores nationwide have been partnered with local nonprofits. Nearly $40 million of building materials have been donated, and over 10,000 tons of product diverted from landfills.

The Home Depot Foundation and Habitat for Humanity International partnered in 2008 to pilot the Partners in Sustainable Building program.  The program, with a $30 million, 5 year commitment from the Foundation, provides training, funding and other resources to help Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the United States build at least 5,000 units that exceed Energy Star ratings and meet other nationally-recognized green standards.  The five-year program began with a one-year pilot program in 2008 with a diverse group of 30 Habitat affiliates of varying levels of size, population served, energy efficient construction experience and geography.
See the Partners in Sustainable Building program fact sheet.

As a founding partner of KaBOOM!, The Home Depot provides financial support, materials and numerous volunteers for play space projects across North America as part of its ongoing commitment to give back to the communities its stores serve.

In 2009, The Home Depot Foundation became the official Sustainability Partner of KaBOOM!, deepening our efforts to minimize the environmental impact of our projects and educate communities about this important issue. Jointly, we have created Guidelines for Eco-Friendly Service Projects that any organization or community leader can utilize when planning a myriad of volunteer projects.
