Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)

Since 1980, Local Initiatives Support Corporation has helped nonprofit community development corporations transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy communities of choice and opportunity.  The Local Initiatives Support Corporation has marshaled more than $6.5 billion from 3,100 investors, lenders and donors to support 2,400 community development corporations (CDCs) build or rehabilitate more than 177,000 affordable homes in urban and rural communities. LISC mobilizes corporate, government and philanthropic support to provide CDCs with: loans, grants and equity investments; technical and management assistance; and local, statewide, and national policy support.

The Home Depot Foundation is providing LISC grant support for its National Affordable Housing Preservation Initiative and its Healthy and Efficient Neighborhood Homes Partnership. The Foundation is also supporting LISC's Gulf Coast hurricane rebuilding efforts through its Community Recovery Fund that will provide pass-through grants, technical assistance and training to 15 CDCs operating in rural areas and small towns impacted by the hurricanes.
