Catherine serves as the Public Relations and Communications Specialist for The Home Depot Foundation. In that role, she is the external communications point of contact for the Foundation. She manages the proactive and reactive media relations activities for the Foundation’s initiatives, including grant making; partnership; and community service initiatives in new and existing markets. She also assists with the annual report, brochures, presentations, newsletters other collateral material and populates the Foundation’s website.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Catherine served as the Media Relations Officer for the City of Atlanta based in Mayor Shirley Franklin’s Office of Communications. In that role, she promoted the City of Atlanta’s key messages; developed and maintained relationships with the local, national and international press corps; prepared speeches and other presentation materials for the Mayor and other City officials; and provided media support to the Mayor at public appearances, meetings and media interviews. Before joining the Office of Communications in 2005, Catherine worked as the External Affairs Coordinator in the City of Atlanta Office of International and Intergovernmental Affairs.
As a native Atlantan, Catherine enjoys being involved in the community. She serves as a member of the Communities in Schools Atlanta Board, the Pace Academy Alumni Board, the Reynoldstown Civic Improvement League Board and the WonderRoot Board. She is a member of the LEAD Atlanta Class of 2010.
She graduated from the University of Arizona Honors College with a degree in Political Science. She is also a graduate of the Arizona Blue Chip Leadership Program, a formal four-year leadership program that emphasizes community involvement.
